The Decentralized Cooperation Programme (DCP) of UNITAR provides training to local actors to enhance their capacity to achieve sustainable development at the local level, including the Sustainable Development Goals under Agenda 2030, and the New Urban Agenda. At the core of the training activities are workshops and seminars, many of which are implemented through a network of regional associated training centres for local actors and leaders – the CIFAL Global Network – as well as e-learning courses.

General Objectives

Under the direct supervision of the Specialist, the intern/trainee shall undertake tasks related to content development and further enhancement of our e-learning portfolio. This includes the provision of assistance in designing and developing interactive e-learning courses on topics such as urban sanitation, urban mobility, Corporate Social Responsibility, etc.

Overview of responsibilities

The intern/trainee will support the design and implementation of DCP e-learning by:

  • Adapting existing instructional content and delivery methods to meet different learner needs
  • Supporting the development of interactive e-learning content through the use of authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline
  • Consulting with the Specialist to ensure accurate content and the application of appropriate adult learning principles and theories
  • Supporting the promotion, coordination and delivery of e-Learning courses


Applicants should have a working knowledge of authoring tools (such as Articulate Storyline, Wise). They would preferably either be enrolled in an instructional design-targeted degree programme, or be young professionals in this field. They should also have a strong interest in learning and training, with a specific interest in e-learning.

Skills required

Applicants should possess organizational, analytical and technical skills to assist with the delivery and organization of courses. A high level of individual responsibility, commitment and initiative, knowledge of MS Office package and computer skills to deal with a variety of tools are required.


Advanced English level (written and spoken) is required for this position. Advanced level of French and/or Spanish would be an asset.
